Reflection
I have enjoyed this class immensely. There are so many technology resources out there that I was not even aware of. Some of my favorite lessons were the Presentation on Professional Organizations, the Technology Lesson Demonstration, and the Web-Based Assessment.
For the Presentation on Professional Organizations, I had
never heard of ISTE. I have been a member of some Professional Organizations,
but none were as put together as the ISTE website. Their site was easy to
navigate and there was a lot of useful information about using technology in
the classroom. I would love to attend one of their seminars as well! From this
lesson, the article that I plan to use in future classrooms is the article
called “5 Tips for Making Digital Learning Accessible to All Students” by
Krueger (2022). The article discussed assistive technology tools that you can
use in the classroom. Supporting all students is important, and Krueger (2022)
gave some useful tips like transcribing podcasts, using tools like Google to
make content accessible, and captioning videos.
The Technology Lesson Demonstration and the Web-Based
Assessment lessons were my other favorites. It was a challenge to think about
how to incorporate the two technology tools that I chose into a lesson, but I
loved learning to navigate the different sites. I know that students would
enjoy both coding and making their own online stories. Scratch and Storyboard
are great sites that I think would engage students, but also allow them to
apply what they have learned.
Roblyer & Hughes (2019) define integrating technology
into education as identifying problems, finding technology that can solve the
problem, using those resources and assessing if they worked. The hardest thing
can be finding the technology, but this class has helped me so much with
knowing where to look and what to look for. I look forward to using these
skills in my future classroom. Thank you!
